Lost an animal?

Call us at (506) 857-8698 and we’ll keep an eye out for it. We have many strays turned in and we may have your lost friend! Found pets are kept for four days (96 hours) before they are considered as candidates for the adoption process. Please note that not all animals go up for adoption. After the 96-hour holding period, they become the property of the Moncton SPCA. We, in turn, then consider their adoptability based on many determining factors.

If you posted a lost or found ad to our website, it is your responsibility that it is posted correctly. Call us at (506) 857-8698 if you don't see it posted within a day. The ad system is a public service and is not a substitute for reporting your pet to the Moncton SPCA via telephone or in person. While we do our best to monitor these ads, resources sometimes do not allow us the time.

If you have lost your pet, we also suggest posting a notice around your neighbourhood, online, in the newspapers and on radio stations.

Found an animal?

Please call us if you have found an animal at (506) 857-8698. You have two options:

  • Care for the animal yourself (if you can) and we’ll try to match it with the lost animals called in to the shelter.
  • Bring the animal to the shelter or call us and we will pick it up (pick-ups only within City of Moncton limits).

The animal will then be held for four days (96 hours) before it becomes our property. We, in turn, then consider their adoptability based on many determining factors.

If you are interested in adopting the stray animal you turned in:

  • You still must be approved for adoption.
  • Once an animal is turned over to us, it must pass all our testing (health, temperament, etc.) before it is put up for adoption if it is not claimed by its owners. Even then, we do not guarantee that you will get the animal.
  • We do not hold animals nor do we ever guarantee that you will be able to adopt the animal even if you are approved. We operate on a first come/first served basis.
  • If you are interested in keeping the animal but would like to reunite it with its owners if possible, the best option is to register a description of the animal with us and simply keep the animal if the owners do not come forward.
