Lost an Animal?

Lost or stray animals turned into the Greater Moncton SPCA automatically appear on our public Lost & Found Listings page for the duration of the mandatory four day holding period. Please monitor the Lost & Found to see if your pet has been turned into the shelter. If your pet has been missing for longer than four days, or if you prefer, please call us at 857-8698 to let us know that you wish to look for your pet in-person.

We can not tell you if your lost pet is at the shelter over the phone. It is up to you to check the Lost & Found listings or to come and look for your pet.

We attempt to check all incoming animals for identification (tags, microchip, tattoo, etc.) to try to locate their owner. Without ID, we are unable to make a match. Microchips are a valuable resource but sometimes fail to be read by the scanner, or an animal can be too fractious to scan. Tags and collars can be lost while your pet is loose. Even if your pet is microchipped or tagged, you should continue to monitor the Lost & Found.

All stray animals are held for 96 hours before becoming property of the GMSPCA.

To claim your animal, we require proof of ownership. We will require photo ID and we will take a copy.

Kennel fees are charged for each day a stray animal remains in the care of the GMSPCA and must be paid in full before they will be returned to their owner.

The associated impound fee will need to be paid in full. Dogs will be required to have a current license. Any outstanding veterinary bills must be paid in full prior to claiming your animal.

If you believe your pet may be in the custody of the NBSPCA, please call 1-877-722-1522.

Other ways to find your lost pet include searching Kijiji, local lost pet sites on Facebook, your local animal control department, and your local veterinarians.
